Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow in the Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HPTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The HPTRP brings together researchers from a wide range of disciplines with an interest to maximise human potential. In HPTRP, we aim to adopt a holistic perspective that considers human potential as an integrative measure of health, productivity, performance, human capital and overall well-being over the lifespan, in our environment. Appointments will be made on one-year contract, with the possibility of one-year extension.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow (RF) will plan and execute research studies to better understand the impact of environmental heat stress on various populations. The successful candidate will be responsible to, and work with, the Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Working closely with the PI to develop new research ideas, write up and present project proposals;
- Designing research protocols and planning data collection strategies, guided by literature reviews and best practices;
- Leading and training teams comprising Research Assistant(s), Students etc in the conduct of laboratory- and field-based research;
- Establishing and managing databases;
- Rigorous data analyses and interpretation of data;
- Generating reports and high-quality publications for presentation to stakeholders and submission to top tier journals, respectively;
- Leading a team comprising Research Assistant(s) and Students in the conduct of laboratory- and field-based research studies;
- Working at different study sites, depending on the needs;
- Working beyond routine work hours due to the nature of research;
- Maintaining the highest standard of professional conduct and record-keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
- Maintaining regular communication with other members of the research team; and
- Assisting with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.
Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Have a Doctorate, preferably in sport science, life sciences or related disciplines;
- Have an interest and experience leading and conducting laboratory and field research with human participants;
- Be proficient in statistics, data analyses and data visualisation for both quantitative and qualitative data;
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Be adaptable and able to multi-task well;
- Be able to work independently and in a team;
- Have an investigative nature and be detail-oriented;
- Have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS Office.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
