Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager, Development supports the Assistant Director in driving and implementing the School’s fundraising and donor engagement strategies. The role is responsible for the effective management of fundraising campaigns, donor portfolio cultivation, and gift administration processes to advance philanthropic support for medical education, research, and related initiatives within NUS Medicine.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
• Support the Assistant Director in formulating and executing fundraising strategies and campaigns aligned with the School’s strategic priorities.
• Manage an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors through proactive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to encourage sustained and increased giving.
• Prepare donor proposals, case statements, stewardship reports, and presentation materials in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Work closely with academic and administrative colleagues to identify funding opportunities and translate them into compelling donor propositions.
Gift Administration and Processing
• Oversee accurate and timely processing of gifts, pledges, and donor acknowledgments in accordance with NUS policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate donor and gift data within the advancement database, ensuring data integrity and compliance with audit and governance standards.
• Coordinate with the NUS Development Office, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure proper documentation and utilisation of donated funds.
Campaign Planning and Execution
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of fundraising campaigns (e.g. annual giving drives, programme-specific or commemorative campaigns).
• Track and report campaign progress and performance metrics.
• Support the organisation of donor recognition and engagement events to strengthen philanthropic relationships.
Collaboration and Support
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across Development, Communications, Alumni Relations, and academic departments to ensure consistent donor messaging and engagement.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for Development-related initiatives and events as required.
Key Objectives and Performance Indicators
• Achievement of annual fundraising and donor retention targets as set by the School.
• Timely and accurate processing of gifts, pledges, and acknowledgments.
• Demonstrated growth in donor engagement, participation, and satisfaction.
• Successful planning and delivery of assigned fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
• Maintenance of complete and accurate donor and gift records, ensuring compliance with University standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
 - At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, advancement, or development, preferably in higher education or healthcare sectors.
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare persuasive proposals and donor correspondence.
 - Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with stakeholders across all levels.
 - Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
 - A self-starter with initiative, good judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
 - High standards of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
 - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with fundraising databases or CRM systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
