Job Description
To lead the design, development, and implementation of immersive technology solutions (3D, Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR)) under the Digital Strategy and Innovation (DSI) function of NUS Libraries, in order to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and discoverability of library collections, and to strengthen the Libraries’ digital transformation and innovation capabilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1) Immersive Systems Architecture & Development
- Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of immersive technology solutions (3D/VR/AR) for collections, exhibitions, research, and teaching applications.
- Architect and optimise 3D capture and photogrammetry workflows, including modelling, rendering, and asset pipelines.
- Develop high-performance interactive 3D environments and immersive applications.
- Ensure immersive systems meet performance, security, accessibility, and sustainability standards.
2) Digital Asset Engineering & Infrastructure
- Design and manage structured repositories for 3D and immersive digital assets.
- Establish standards for 3D data formats, optimisation strategies, metadata integration, and long-term sustainability.
- Integrate immersive assets with library digital platforms and discovery systems.
- Support cloud-based deployment and scalability of immersive applications.
3) Innovation Leadership & Advisory
- Evaluate, prototype, and implement emerging immersive technologies and generative AI applications relevant to libraries and digital heritage.
- Serve as subject matter expert in immersive technologies within NUS Libraries.
- Provide technical consultation to librarians, faculty, researchers, and external partners.
- Develop documentation, technical standards, and reusable frameworks to build institutional capability in immersive technologies.
Requirements
Qualification:
• Degree in Computer Science, Interactive Media, Digital Technologies, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Years of Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in immersive technologies, 3D development, or digital systems engineering.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
• Advanced experience in photogrammetry and 3D modelling pipelines, including optimisation for real-time or web-based environments.
• Strong experience developing or deploying VR and AR applications across different platforms.
• Experience with 3D rendering engines, WebGL, or comparable immersive development frameworks.
• Experience designing scalable immersive solutions deployed in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Strong understanding of digital asset lifecycle management and repository design.
• Ability to independently architect technical solutions and manage complex implementation workflows.
• Strong analytical, systems-thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
