Duties & Responsibilities
Operations Management
• Manage the daily operations of the engineering team, including scheduling, task delegation, and performance reviews.
• Develop and implement maintenance programs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, HVAC, elevators, and other critical infrastructure.
• Ensure all The Executive Centre facilities are maintained to the highest standard, with minimal disruption to guests.
Staff Management
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate engineering staff.
• Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure optimal productivity and coverage.
• Provide ongoing coaching and training to staff, fostering a culture of service excellence.
• Address and resolve staff performance issues or grievances promptly.
Strategic Planning & Sustainability
• Collaborate with the General Manager and other departments to align engineering initiatives with the Executive Centre’s sustainability and innovation goals.
• Identify opportunities to integrate NUS innovations into The Executive Centre operations.
• Develop energy-saving initiatives and monitor utility consumption to meet sustainability targets.
Guest Satisfaction
• Respond to guest requests and complaints regarding engineering services, ensuring prompt resolution.
• Collaborate with the front office to accommodate special guest requests and ensure seamless communication.
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all local building codes, safety regulations, and fire safety standards.
• Regularly inspect the property to identify and resolve safety hazards.
• Coordinate and oversee regulatory inspections, ensuring all certifications are current.
Budget and Reporting
• Prepare and manage the department’s operational and capital expenditure budgets.
• Oversee procurement and inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
• Negotiate and manage vendor contracts for outsourced maintenance and repair services.
Qualifications
Requirements
Education and Experience
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent field) or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, energy management, and sustainability practices.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and preventive maintenance software.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
