Job Description
The candidate will execute protocols to manage and reduce potential research security risks related to research collaborations and grant applications by the university’s research community, such as research activities undertaken with or funded by external parties. This role involves liaising with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with related university regulations and research security workflows to foster risk mitigated research environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk assessment and mitigation and regulatory compliance and/or working experience in research management in a university or academic environment, along with excellent communication skills and proficiency in both English and Chinese languages.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Policy implementation: Collaborate with research and administrative units to execute research security-related procedures and protocols, including supporting regular management meetings and reporting requirements.
- Pre-project assessment and post-approval monitoring: Liaise with research teams and conduct fact-finding for initial risk assessment of research activities with potential research security risks. For screened projects that are approved to proceed, support the monitoring of risk mitigation measures over the project periods.
- Training and awareness: Craft informative materials and update training programmes to promote awareness amongst the university research community on the importance and requirements of research security.
- Case documentation and archival: Maintain consistent and reliable documentation on research security cases and archive such documentation in the unit’s database.
Qualifications
- Recognised degree in science or engineering discipline preferred;
- At least 3 years’ working experience in research management/administration or similar roles in compliance/administration;
- Experience in research-related functions in higher education sector or research contracts/grants management will be an advantage;
- Knowledge or experience in executing policies and procedures relating to university administration or workflow compliance;
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment;
- Meticulous, independent and organised individual with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion that is necessary for this job function;
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese languages will be preferred.
