Job Description
As a key member of the NUS College Communications (Outreach) team, the Communications & Marketing Manager plays a pivotal role in elevating, driving and protecting the College’s brand mindshare, reputation and visibility. This unified role combines strategic brand marketing, public relations, content creation, website & social media management, community building and event support to foster deeper connections with key stakeholders and advance NUS College's strategic vision.
Duties and Responsbilities
1. Brand & Public Relations
• Develop and implement 360-degree brand communications and marketing strategies and campaigns aligned with NUSC’s brand positioning, including brand activations, partnerships and collaborations.
• Manage and enhance brand guidelines across all touchpoints, ensuring consistency and alignment across the website, social media, advertising, collaterals and physical spaces.
• Lead and oversee facility branding needs in collaboration with the infrastructure office.
• Manage the corporate gift inventory, curating items that authentically align with the NUSC brand.
• Develop and pitch compelling press releases and story angles to journalists, while crafting speeches and executive communications for NUSC leadership.
• Cultivate and build strong relationships with key media outlets, editors and correspondents, particularly within the education sector.
• Manage media inquiries, coordinate briefings and interviews, monitor coverage and track brand mentions.
• Proactively identify and address potential PR challenges or crises.
2. Content, Website & Social Media
• Curate, create, schedule and publish compelling, on-brand content across social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).
• Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns, including paid advertising and influencer marketing, as well as production of campaign assets featuring students, graduates, faculty and other stakeholders.
• Develop, edit and proofread newsletters, website copy, blog posts, articles and marketing collaterals.
• Maintain and optimise website content, manage content profile bank and oversee the newsletter mailing list/subscriber database.
• Manage and monitor social media performance, engagement, community responses and general enquiries via the NUSC mailbox.
3. Event Management
• Provide comprehensive support for internal and external events, including logistical coordination, live coverage, content creation and digital distribution via newsletters, web and social media.
4. Measurement, Training & Operations
• Measure and report the effectiveness of PR, brand and website & social initiatives, identifying trends, insights and optimisation areas.
• Support brand research, sentiment surveys, audits and competitor analysis.
• Manage and guide a team of student writers, photographers and videographers covering NUSC events and initiatives.
• Conduct training workshops for internal teams and student groups on brand guidelines, content creation and website & social media best practices.
• Collaborate across administrative teams on cross-functional duties and general operational tasks.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience spanning PR, brand management, campaign execution, content creation and social media marketing.
• Prior experience working with large organisations and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders is a strong plus.
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills, including a working knowledge of Simplified Chinese.
• Strong project management, organisational and time management skills to handle complex projects under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with website Content Management Systems (like WordPress), social media scheduling/reporting platforms and photo/video editing tools.
• Hands-on knowledge of SEO, SEM and all key digital tools and metrics such as PPC, CPC, email marketing, social media monitoring and web analytics, including AI trends.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) is advantageous.
• Highly organised, mature, resourceful and independent team player with a passion for the education industry.
