Job Description
Reporting to Business School Finance Lead, the incumbent will service as a Finance Business Partner to the designated Dean’s Office, Departments/Units within the cluster:
- Provide financial and business advisories to the internal stakeholders that are critical to their decision-making purposes and ensure compliance with University’s financial policies and procedures, and funding agencies’ terms & conditions / guidelines.
- Foster and maintain a regular working relationship within the Departments, central shared services teams, and other functional partners.
This position is available for immediate commencement or at short notice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance Business Partnering Support to Faculties:
- Provide finance business partnering support to faculties by working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver financial insights and advice aligned with business objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, managing financial queries and fostering effective communication.
- Support the Finance Lead and central management in the review of faculty budgets and resource allocation.
- Manage faculty-level financial matters not handled centrally, such as withholding tax filing, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with NUS Financial Policies and Procedures.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Manage the annual budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts, incorporating analysis of economic indicators and market trends.
- Analyse monthly financial results and business drivers, providing commentary on variances against budget and forecast.
- Prepare variance reports and financial statements for monthly, quarterly, and annual management reviews.
- Conduct cost-benefit and profitability analyses, including financial simulations for programmes and projects.
- Develop and maintain efficient data systems and processes to provide accurate costing information.
- Support strategic planning through the preparation of long-term financial projections.
- Drive efficiency by leveraging new or enhancing existing financial tools and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, Management or ACCA.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Financial Planning, and/or Financial Analysis.
- Good analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Meticulous, committed, proactive, and hands-on in approach.
- Resourceful, adaptable to change, and a supportive team player with a positive attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
- Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
- Experience with Power BI or automation tools is an advantage.
