Job Description
The National University of Singapore (NUS), the top-ranked university in Asia, is recruiting full-time Assistant Professors for the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) on the tenure track. Tenure-track appointees are given fixed-term contracts of up to 7 years, with the goal of obtaining tenure at the end of this period. In addition to an attractive salary and benefits package, new faculty members may be eligible for a start-up grant to initiate their independent stream of research and subsidised university accommodation.
These positions are specifically for faculty to work in the Social and Behavioural Sciences Domain of SSHSPH. Researchers active in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:
- Health Promotion and Behavioural Sciences
- Implementation Science
- Programme Evaluation
- Public Health of Ageing

Job Requirements
- A recognised Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline with a strong post-doctoral research record.
- A proven track record of publishing in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in leading independent research studies or key components within larger programmes.
- Ability to generate and sustain an independent stream of research funding.
- Ability to teach public health courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary settings.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations, including marginalised communities.
Responsibilities
- Provide intellectual leadership in one or more core areas of Social and Behavioural Sciences, including health promotion, communication and behavioural sciences, implementation science, programme evaluation, and/or public health of ageing, with clear evidence of shaping research agendas and scholarly discourse.
- Establish and lead an independent research agenda by securing extramural funding with clear potential for national, regional, or international visibility and sustained impact.
Initiate, lead, and strengthen interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research collaborations within SSHSPH, across NUS, and with regional and global academic, policy, and practice partners. - Design, teach, evaluate, and develop new undergraduate and postgraduate public health courses.
- Supervise and advise postgraduate students.
- Mentor junior faculty to support sustained capacity building in the Social and Behavioural Sciences Domain within SSHSPH.
- Engage actively in policy-relevant research translation, knowledge exchange, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to national, regional, and global public health policy debates and practice.
