About the Career Advisor Role:

This is a challenging, purposeful, and rewarding role for one to join the School of Computing (SoC) team on a full-time basis. We’re seeking a passionate, collaborative individual who thrives on working with students—someone who takes the time to listen, connect, and empower undergraduates as they explore and pursue their career goals. Be part of a dedicated team making a real impact by driving career readiness and shaping future-ready graduates

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advise SoC undergraduates and recent graduates on career exploration, job market navigation, and employability strategies.
  • Provide 1-on-1 and group coaching on career planning, job search strategies, resume and cover letter reviews, and interview preparation.
  • Conduct graduate briefings to help students prepare for workplace expectations and career transitions
  • Develop and deliver courses/workshops on essential career and soft skills (e.g. presentation and communication, personality profiling, self-awareness & branding, interpersonal effectiveness & networking, etc.)
  • Partner with colleagues to organise and deliver targeted career preparation workshops, experiential learning programs and industry talks to enhance student’s career readiness and competencies.
  • Drive student engagement through initiatives that promote career services.
  • Collaborate with the Industry Relations team to strengthen employer engagement, understand hiring needs, and connect students to opportunities.
  • Support key CFG/SoC activities and events and advocate career services and platforms.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree holder from a recognised university with 5-7 years of working experience, including at least two years in the ICT sector
  • Good industry knowledge of the latest transformation, emerging opportunities and hiring trends
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills for interacting effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in coaching/mentoring and familiarity with the use of personality profiling and career assessment tools is an advantage
  • Resilient and adaptable with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with partners and colleagues to manage change and achieve goals
