Job Description
The Lien Centre for Palliative Care department is conducting a research study on consumer beverage choices with and without Nutri-Grade label display, using a tablet-based experimental shopping task administered in public locations. The study uses an intercept recruitment approach: trained interviewers will approach passersby, invite them to participate in a short, voluntary study, screen for eligibility, and guide participants through a standardized tablet-based food selection task and brief survey.
The department is looking to hire 4 Casual Management Support Officers to support consistent field implementation, ensure high-quality data collection, uphold participant privacy and informed consent procedures, and achieve recruitment targets across scheduled fieldwork sessions (approximately 15 hours/week).
Roles and responsibilities
Participant recruitment and study administration
- Conduct intercept recruitment at designated high-footfall venues (e.g., malls, transit hubs, campuses) following a standardized script.
- Explain the study briefly and clearly; answer basic participant questions without biasing responses.
- Screen participants for eligibility using the tablet-based questionnaire and apply inclusion/exclusion criteria accurately.
- Administer informed consent procedures and ensure participants understand voluntariness, confidentiality, and withdrawal rights.
Data collection (tablet-based)
- Guide participants through the tablet-based food choice/shopping task and short pre/post surveys, ensuring protocol adherence.
- Ensure data completeness and quality checks (e.g., required fields completed, time stamps recorded) before ending each session.
