Job Description

The Centre for International Law (CIL) at the National University of Singapore is seeking an expert in ASEAN law and policy to serve as Senior Research Fellow / Principal Research Fellow and Co-Head of its ASEAN Law and Policy Programme. Established in 2009, this flagship programme is a pioneer in research, teaching and capacity-building on ASEAN law and policy. Its signature initiatives include the ASEAN Integration Through Law Book Series by Cambridge University Press and the annual Asean Law and Policy Programme Academy. 

Responsibilities: The Co-Head is expected to:

  • Work alongside Professor J.H.H. Weiler to lead and expand the ASEAN Law and Policy Programme.
  • Provide research direction, mentorship, and oversight for ongoing and new projects within the programme.
  • Develop and implement capacity-building initiatives for ASEAN stakeholders.
  • Lead and contribute to research publications, policy papers, and academic outputs.
  • Represent CIL and the programme at regional and international conferences, workshops and symposia.

Qualifications

  • PhD in International Law with a minimum of 10 years of experience in ASEAN -related research, law and policy work.
  • Expertise in international law, regional integration, institutions and dispute settlement.
  • An established record of publications in leading academic or policy journals.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, research management and capacity-building.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
