Job Description
We are looking for a curious and motivated junior Data Scientist to join the Projects, Applications & Data Intelligence (PADI) Team within the Office of Finance (OFN). This role is suitable for fresh graduates who are interested in building practical AI and LLM-powered solutions using Python. The work will be broad and hands-on, covering areas of automation, LLM application development, BI reporting, and experimentation with emerging AI tools.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and support analytics and AI solutions for OFN business use cases, including LLM applications, Python scripts, automation workflows, ML prototypes, and BI dashboards.
- Build Python-based tools and scripts for data processing, automation, API integration, reporting, and AI/LLM experimentation.
- Support ML and LLM solution development, including data extraction, data preparation, prompt design, model evaluation, testing, and deployment support.
- Analyse data from various sources to generate insights, reports, and dashboards for business decision-making.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support solution adoption.
- Maintain good coding practices, documentation, and version control using code repositories such as Git.
- Keep up to date with emerging AI, LLM, data science, and automation tools, and explore practical applications to business problems.
- Support analytics-related project activities, including scoping, progress tracking, testing, and stakeholder communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong foundation in Python programming, with the ability to write clean, readable code for data processing, automation, API usage, and prototyping.
- Good understanding of SQL and basic database concepts, including querying, joining, filtering, and working with structured data.
- Interest in Large Language Models and generative AI, with exposure through coursework, personal projects, internships, hackathons, or self-learning.
- Basic understanding of data science and machine learning concepts, such as data preprocessing, model evaluation, embeddings, classification, regression, or clustering.
- Ability to learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies quickly, especially in the fast-changing AI landscape.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with curiosity to explore new approaches and translate ideas into working prototypes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document work clearly and explain technical ideas simply.
Preferred Qualification
- Hands-on exposure to LLM applications, such as prompt engineering, chatbots, agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, or use of LLM APIs.
- Familiarity with Python libraries or frameworks for data processing,
- Exposure to machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other BI/reporting tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, PySpark, n8n, JavaScript, or workflow automation tools.
- Basic understanding of MLOps or LLMOps concepts, such as versioning, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, or responsible AI practices.
- Experience from final-year projects, internships, research projects, open-source contributions, or personal AI projects are welcomed.
