As one of Asia’s leading public policy institutions, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) plays a vital role in shaping governance and advancing public policy discourse in the region and beyond. We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to lead our Thought Leadership, Strategic Communications, and Marketing functions.

 

This role is instrumental in driving the School’s brand narrative, strategic positioning, and global visibility. The ideal candidate will bring strategic foresight, storytelling excellence, and executional rigour to amplify the School’s mission and influence. They will lead integrated communications and marketing efforts that inspire action, build credibility, and attract future policy leaders.

 

 

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the integration of Thought Leadership, Strategic Communications, and Marketing to support the School’s mission, reputation, and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Shape and deliver unified messaging that reflects the school’s dual mandate of impact and influence, and positions the School as a thought leader in public policy.

 

2.  Thought Leadership & Content Strategy

  • Develop and sustain a robust thought leadership platform that draws on the School’s research, faculty insights, and global network.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, multi-format content (e.g., articles, op-eds, podcasts, videos) to shape public discourse and enhance policy influence.
  • Identify strategic themes aligned with global and regional policy priorities to amplify the School’s convening power.

 

3.  Strategic Communications

  • Manage internal and external communications to protect and enhance the School’s brand identity, voice, and visibility.
  • Serve as a central coordination point for messaging, media handling, and communication protocols, especially in high-stakes or time-sensitive situations.
  • Ensure alignment across all official platforms, including speeches, press releases, social media, and websites.

4. Marketing & Campaign Execution

  • Design and implement integrated marketing strategies to promote student recruitment, executive education, public outreach, and the visibility of School programmes and events.
  • Use data and insights to segment audiences, optimise digital campaigns, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics such as engagement, ROI, and conversion rates.

 

5.  Stakeholder Communications & Media Relations

  • Drive proactive engagement with regional and international media to enhance coverage of the School’s work and faculty thought leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media and public-facing stakeholders to shape perceptions and build trust.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure consistent and well-coordinated external messaging, especially in areas with shared responsibilities.

 

6.  Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team across communications, digital marketing, and branding.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture grounded in accountability, creativity, and impact.
  • Oversee project workflows, vendor relationships, and budget allocations to deliver timely, high-quality outputs.

 

Qualifications

 

  • A recognised Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field. A Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, marketing, or brand leadership, ideally within higher education, public policy, international development, or related sectors.
  • Proven success in designing and executing thought leadership initiatives that position institutions or leaders as credible, influential voices.
  • Strong track record in content strategy, media engagement, stakeholder relations, and integrated campaign delivery.
  • Proficient in data analytics and digital marketing, with the ability to translate insights into action.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholders and senior levels.
  • A nuanced understanding of Asia’s geopolitical and policy landscape is highly desirable.
