As part of the Investigations Unit at the Office of Risk Management and Compliance, the candidate will lead and support university-wide investigations into staff misconduct and policy breaches, helping to mitigate financial, reputational, and regulatory risks.
The role is responsible for leading and supporting investigations into staff misconduct and other integrity-related matters, while advancing the University's conduct risk and compliance objectives. Through investigations, intelligence gathering, stakeholder engagement, trend analysis, and governance initiatives, the role supports the development of the conduct risk framework, identifies emerging conduct and integrity risks, contributes to risk mitigation strategies, and helps strengthen a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct across the University. The role also provides secondary support and coverage for the University's whistleblowing and conflict of interest (COI) frameworks, as required to support business continuity and operational needs.
Job Description
Investigations
- Assess, plan and conduct investigations, including defining scope, developing investigation strategies, and managing investigative activities from commencement to closure.
- Gather, preserve, analyse, and evaluate documentary, digital, financial, and testimonial evidence, ensuring the integrity of evidence and investigation records.
- Conduct interviews with complainants, respondents, witnesses, and other relevant parties, and prepare accurate statements and investigation documentation.
- Establish facts, prepare investigation findings and reports, and recommend corrective actions, risk mitigation measures, or control improvements where appropriate.
- Engage and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external agencies, including law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and legal counsel, where required.
- Support disciplinary, regulatory, legal, and other follow-up actions arising from investigations.
Conduct Risk
- Develop conduct risk indicators, dashboards, monitoring methodologies, and management reporting.
- Analyse whistleblowing, investigation, and other data sources to identify emerging risks, trends, and systemic issues.
- Engage stakeholders through conduct risk assessments, workshops, intelligence gathering, and awareness initiatives to strengthen conduct risk management capability across the University.
Whistleblowing & Conflict Of Interest
- Provide secondary coverage for the Whistleblowing function, including case intake, registration, screening, triage, referral, case management, records administration, information gathering, and stakeholder reporting, to ensure the timely, consistent, and effective handling of matters received through whistleblowing channels.
- Provide secondary coverage for the Conflict of Interest (COI) function, including policy and framework maintenance, compliance testing and monitoring, assessment of COI controls and disclosures, risk identification, reporting, and continuous improvement activities, to support the effective management of conflict of interest risks and compliance with University requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminology, Risk Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in investigations involving fraud, misconduct, ethics, compliance, cybercrime, regulatory, or other integrity-related matters, gained in law enforcement, regulatory, investigation, audit, risk, compliance, or corporate environments. Experience in conduct risk management, including the development and implementation of conduct risk frameworks, key risk indicators, monitoring programmes, behavioural risk assessments, or related initiatives, would be advantageous.
- Experience using OSINT, AI tools, data analytics, dashboards, or monitoring tools to support investigations, conduct risk monitoring, intelligence gathering, trend analysis, and identification of emerging risks would be advantageous.
