Job Description

The Department of Pharmacology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine), is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to support ongoing research projects and ensure smooth day-to-day laboratory operations. The successful candidate will contribute to research work under funded grants and take ownership of essential lab management duties, including inventory, procurement, housekeeping, and safety-related activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory administration & management 

  • Manage lab inventory, stores, and housekeeping to ensure readiness of consumables and equipment
  • Handle procurement processes and coordinate orders, deliveries, and stock checks
  • Maintain proper documentation and administrative records relevant to lab operations

Day-to-day lab operations 

  • Support the effective daily running of the laboratory, including coordination of shared resources and general operational needs

Safety management

  • Support laboratory safety practices, including safety training, compliance checks, and audit preparation
  • Help maintain a safe working environment in accordance with institutional safety requirements

Research support & benchwork 

  • Provide research and technical support to investigators and research staff for projects under the relevant grant(s)
  • Conduct basic biomedical laboratory work; assist with experimental workflows as required



Qualifications

  • Diploma in Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, or a related field
  • Basic computer proficiency (email, Microsoft Office, productivity tools)
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Team-oriented, willing to learn, proactive and responsible
  • No known allergy to pets and small animals
  • Basic biomedical benchwork experience
  • Cell culture experience (preferred but not required)
  • Experience handling mice (preferred but not required)
  • Experience handling human samples (preferred but not required)
