Port Innovation Ecosystem Reimagined @ BLOCK71, PIER71, was established in 2018 jointly by NUS Enterprise and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
PIER71 boosts innovation in the maritime and maritime-related industries by attracting talents, creating opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, attracting investments into start-ups, and accelerating ventures.
The Role: Brand & Engagement Manager
As Brand & Engagement Manager for PIER71, you'll position how we connect with the maritime innovation community, from industry leaders and start-ups to partners and the public. From executing flagship events to crafting compelling campaigns, you'll build experiences and narratives that elevate our brand, deepen engagement, and drive meaningful action.
This is a hands-on role for a strategic marketer who thrives at the intersection of events, content, programme brand management, and stakeholder relations. You'll involve from end-to-end campaign execution across platforms and programmes, ensuring every touchpoint, from social media posts to stage presentations, reflects PIER71's vision and inspires our community.
Additionally, you may be required to interface with cross-functional areas with other NUS Enterprise programmes, ensuring brand alignment and leveraging synergies across the wider Innovation & Enterprise ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate flagship experiences – Support end-to-end event management for maritime related events such as Singapore Maritime Week, Smart Port Challenge launches, and start-up showcases—from venue procurement and booth design to media coordination and on-site execution.
- Amplify our voice – Manage PIER71's online outreach channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, PIER71 website, WhatsApp), crafting and producing compelling content (Post, Reels, etc.), monitoring and engaging in online conversations, analysing performance, and optimising engagement across platforms to highlight PIER71 initiatives and the start-ups.
- Champion the brand – Serve as custodian of PIER71's brand identity, producing marketing collaterals, EDMs, newsletters, landing pages, and webpages that ensure consistency and communicate our mission with impact.
- Engage stakeholders strategically – Coordinate with start-ups, corporate partners, media, and investors to deliver cohesive messaging and strengthen relationships, while aligning narratives with NUS Enterprise communication strategies.
- Create with purpose – Curate media content, develop op-eds, and craft narratives that showcase PIER71's impact in the maritime innovation landscape.
- Own your craft – Drive projects from concept to budgeting to execution, managing timelines with minimal supervision and delivering excellence under pressure.

Qualifications
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in event management, marketing communications, and stakeholder engagement for dynamic organisations or innovation ecosystems.
- Start to finish mindset with hands-on execution capability; ability to communicate at all levels as a professional.
- An active team player who develops the plan and rolls up their sleeves to make it happen.
- Track record of executing large-scale events end-to-end, including venue procurement, stakeholder coordination, media engagement, and on-site execution.
- Strong proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, social media management, email marketing systems (EDMs), website/landing page development, and analytics.
- Good project management and organisational skills with ability to juggle multiple datelines while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring timely delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences from start-ups to corporate partners.
Advantages if you have the following skillset
- Knowledge in brand management, marketing collateral production, budget management, and vendor negotiation.
- Knowledge in content creation (copywriting, photography, basic video editing) to produce quick-turnaround assets.
- Knowledge in design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and entry-level video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or Final Cut Pro) to develop high-quality marketing assets and social media collaterals.
- Knowledge of media relations, PR strategies, media pitching, and thought leadership development in institutional or educational contexts.
- Experience in maritime, deep tech, innovation ecosystems, or start-up environments.
- Understanding of ESG and sustainability communication, especially relevant for maritime or innovation sectors.
