Job Description

The research assistant will report to the PI and work closely with the research team and various stakeholders. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Literature review: Conducting reviews of existing literature to further develop the study design and perform comparative analyses.
  • Data collection and management: Assisting in gathering data through surveys and interviews.
  • Conducting qualitative interviews: Assist in developing interview guides and protocols. Conduct in-depth interviews with research participants. The research assistant will receive training from the PI and other qualitative researchers prior to commencement of interviews.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Assist in coding and analyzing qualitative data using software. Identify themes, patterns, and insights from data.
  • Preparation of manuscripts and presentations: Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Data management and analysis: Organizing, recording and analyzing data to ensure accuracy and relevance to research questions.
  • Administrative support: Coordinating logistics, for example scheduling, communications with participants and collaborators and managing project timelines.

Any other duties that may be assigned by the PI from time to time to meet the needs of the research project.
 

Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in social sciences, public health, psychology, anthropology, or a related field. Diploma holders with relevant research experience may be considered.
  • Work experience: Prior work experience (at least 1 year) and familiarity with qualitative research methods and best practices is preferred. This includes but is not limited to conducting interviews, transcribing, thematic analysis and grounded theory research. Candidates without experience are welcome to apply..
  • Other skills and requirements:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully and constructively with research participants and stakeholders.

Good time management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Proficiency with qualitative analysis software (e.g. NVivo), or willingness to learn.
Highly detail-oriented with strong attention to detail.
Proactive and eager to acquire new knowledge and skills.
