Job Description
The Division of Allergy & Immunology at the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates with a keen interest in clinical translational research in allergic disease to join our team as a Research Assistant. We run large cohort studies, observational and population health studies in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology to better understand childhood allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis (eczema) and food allergy, with the goal of understanding disease prevalence, natural history and endophenotypes; developing diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies and advocating for clinical policy changes that would serve to improve health outcomes for children with allergic disorders.
Appointments will be made on an annual contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and collaborate with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to conduct various research projects in the field of Paediatric Allergy & Immunology to ensure the successful completion of study measures in a timely manner to achieve high quality and impactful deliverables. The RA’s principal role will be to perform clinical research-related procedures such as subject screening and recruitment, subject follow-ups, coordinating the collection and processing of biological samples, data collection, management and processes, data entry, cleaning and analysis.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will be involved in conducting research visits and study procedures and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI) and Project Lead.
The RA will :
- Assist with Subject screening and recruitment, conduct study visits, perform study procedures and collection of data sets and in strict adherence to approved study protocols, ICH Good Clinical Practice and other applicable regulatory bodies;
- Assist with biological sample processing, storage and analysis;
- Maintenance and organization of the investigator site files (ISF), preparation and submissions of documents and/or reports (e.g study amendments, study status reports) to the ethics committee;
- Assist with grant status reports and preparation of study progress slides during regular meetings with Co-Is and Collaborators;
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with consolidation and management of data, data cleaning and data analysis;
- Conduct literature review, manuscript preparation and administrative aspects in relation to grant write up and submissions;
- Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI and/or Project Lead.
- Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures, and uphold a culture of camaraderie and excellence in the team

Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Have a Bachelors in Biomedical science, Allied Health or related field
- Have Basic Laboratory skills e.g pipetting, centrifugation
- Be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail, self-motivated with initiative
- Have outstanding organizational skills and interpersonal communication skills
- Have basic computer literacy in applications such as MS office (Word, Excel) PowerPoint and Adobe
- Having experience in the conduct of clinical studies, maintenance of ISF, use of REDCap, GraphPad Prism, SPSS and related platform; performing skin prick tests, skin swabs, phlebotomy, data and sample collection will be advantageous
