Job Description
The Academy for Healthy Longevity at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, seeks a Research Assistant/Associate to support an innovative project developing prognostic digital biomarkers of aging using physical activity data from wearable devices. This position will contribute to advancing personalized healthcare through data-driven approaches to risk segment populations to enable health promotion and longevity.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will support the analysis of physical activity data and health outcomes to develop digital biomarkers of aging and risk stratification models. The multidisciplinary team aims to process large-scale physical activity datasets and contribute to the development of an interactive healthcare dashboard. This is a 12-month position with the possibility of extension based on grant funding.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Analytics & Processing
- Develop a plan to process and analyze physical activity data from wearable devices
- Support the development of risk stratification models
- Assist in integrating health outcome records with physical activity data
- Identify a pathway to implement statistical and machine learning techniques for biomarker identification
- Develop plans for validating risk stratification models
- Planning Technical Development
- Support development plans for the creation of interactive dashboards for data visualization
- Identify data quality control and security protocols
- Research Support
- Help prepare materials for future grant applications
- Assist in preparing research documentation and reports
- Support stakeholder coordination and technical strategy development
- Contribute to research team meetings and discussions
- Any other tasks deemed necessary by the research team
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Research Assistant: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field and 1-2 years experience in health data analysis or related field
- Research Associate: Master's degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field and 1-2 years experience in health data analysis or related field
- Technical Skills
- Programming proficiency in relevant software systems such as Python or R
- Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning
- Experience in data preprocessing and data harmonization
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards
- Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
