Job Description
The Signature Research Programme in Health Services and Systems Research (“HSSR”) in Duke-NUS Medical School is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. The programme’s focus is on public health and clinical service innovation in an increasingly complex and connected world. The major research focus of HSSR is the organisation and delivery of health and social services in the context of an ageing population. The research methods include decision science and simulation modelling, survey research, qualitative research, health economics, and implementation science and evaluation. We are also developing a range of education activities for health care professionals including short courses, graduate certificates, Masters courses and PhD programmes.
A Research Assistant position is currently available, and the successful candidate will be expected to perform a variety of research activities which will include but not limited to the following:
- Work with end users, implementation scientists and ecosystem partners to deploy those solutions, collect data and evaluate outcomes in early pilot implementation environments.
- Extract, manage and maintain research datasets and research data analytics platforms and registries
- Ensure accurate and effective extract /mine of large datasets from source systems.
- Support data de-identification activities
- Facilitate the identification of data gaps , spot trends and derive high-value actionable insights from these datasets
- Merge large healthcare dataset derived from multiple disparate data sources required for the conduct of specific HSR and data-analytics projects
- Work with IT Department and users and relevant stakeholders from Singhealth institutions and academic and industry partners to build and maintain a robust library of reusable algorithms and supporting code such that research efforts are based on the highest quality data, are transparently conducted, are well-documented, and are reproducible.
- Engage, manage and drive specific Health Services Research and data-analytics projects involving multiple stakeholders within Singhealth as well as with academic and/or industry partners and collaborators.
- Support research consultancy services offered in terms of research database management, biostatistics and healthcare analytics
- Support research activities relevant to the scope of HSSR and Health Services Research Institute
- Be responsible for project management
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Biostatistics, Computing, Public Health, Health Economics or Health Service Research, or any related science/engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Prior experience in working with healthcare datasets would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated good knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting data management / research activities.
- Able to undertake independent research progressively.
- Possess strong writing and critical thinking skills.
- Have excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Action-oriented, highly motivated, and target-focused.
- Able to work both independently and as a team player in a diverse workforce.
