Job Description - Qualitative
The Lien Centre for Palliative Care (LCPC) at Duke-NUS Medical School invites applications for a Research Assistant / Research Associate to support ongoing qualitative research in palliative and end-of-life care.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior investigators on studies involving patients with serious illness, family caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This role offers hands-on experience in qualitative (and selected quantitative) palliative care research within a multidisciplinary and collaborative academic environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals
- Manage qualitative data, including transcription, coding, and organisation
- Analyse qualitative data
- Prepare study-related documents, including ethics submissions, progress reports, and study materials
- Liaise with clinical and institutional stakeholders as required
- Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree with 1–2 years of relevant research experience, in a related discipline (e.g. Public Health, Psychology, Social Sciences, Nursing, Life Sciences, or related fields)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Prior experience or demonstrated training in qualitative research methods; familiarity with quantitative methods is an advantage
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin or Malay, with the ability to conduct research interviews due to the nature of the work
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Sensitivity and professionalism when working with palliative care populations
