Job Description
The Research Assistant will participate in seagrass research, with a specific focus on examining seagrass reproduction. A large component of the work is to be conducted in the field. The Research Assistant will lead and execute field sampling, laboratory analysis and some aquaria experimentation. Specific tasks include planning and conducting field work, running laboratory analyses, collection and analysis of data, and performing basic administrative duties.
This position reports to the Principle Investigator at Tropical Marine Science Institute and is based at St John Island National Marine Laboratory on offshore St John Island, Singapore. This position is for 1 year; after first year, renewal is subjected to performance review.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science, Environmental Science, or related field

Proficient with basic Microsoft Suite

Prior experience for marine and intertidal field work and seawater aquarium facilities is highly preferred.

Must be willing to do intertidal field work, which entails working in muddy environment and working around low tide timings.

Self-motivated, driven, and a keen interest in research

Effective oral and written communication skills in English
