Job Description
The Research Assistant (RA) will provide support to the Visual Arts & Cultures (VAC) Academic Committee in advancing new developments of minors and a second major at NUS. This initiative is in collaboration with the National Gallery of Singapore and the Departments of History, Communications and New Media, and English, Linguistics & Theatre Studies in NUS. The RA will assist in research, curriculum planning, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
- Research and Programme Development
- Conduct research and coordinate with faculty members across the relevant departments to facilitate curriculum development.
- Assist in compiling course materials and ensuring alignment across the relevant departments.
- Gather and analyse data on student enrolment and course offerings to support decision-making.
- Support the preparation of proposal submissions and documentation for the necessary review and approval processes at the faculty and university levels.
- Assist in drafting reports and presentations for university stakeholders.
- Internship and Student Engagement Support
- Support the planning and administration of internship placements
- Track student participation in internships and assist in collecting feedback for program enhancement.
- Facilitate student outreach and engagement initiatives to promote the VAC programme.
- Administrative Support
- Coordinate meetings and maintain communication among the VAC Academic Committee members.
- Prepare reports, minutes, and documentation for VAC Academic Committee meetings.
- Support faculty recruitment and hiring processes by coordinating with departments and administrative offices.
- Maintain records related to the development of the programme.
Qualifications and requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a humanities discipline; a background in History, Art History, Cultural studies and/or Museum studies is a plus. Work experience in the cultural industries (e.g., museums, galleries, cultural organisations) is advantageous but not required
- Strong research skills, with experience in data collection and analysis.
- Familiarity with curriculum design and higher education program development is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
