Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for for Research Assistant/ Research Associate (Facilities Manager/Engineer) in the Clinical Imaging Research Centre (CIRC), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Cyclotron Facility Engineer to join CIRC, overseeing the operation, repair, and troubleshooting of radiochemistry equipment in the facility. The Cyclotron Facility includes a PETtrace cyclotron, Comecer Hot Cells, and various synthesis/dispensing modules (GE TRACERlabs, iPhase MultiSyn, Trasis mAIO, Scintomics GRP, ORA NEPTIS, iPhase IDD, E&Z Pharmtracer).

 

The mission of CIRC is to provide a shared state-of-the-art national resource for translational molecular imaging research, to foster collaborations between scientists and clinicians and to support the development of human capital. The engineer will play an essential role in maintaining critical equipment to a validated state in compliance with GMP. The position will also include liaising with facility and other necessary contractors to ensure the facility infrastructure is maintained for GMP production. This position involves hands-on engineering in controlled areas, ensuring compliance with radiation safety and regulatory standards while optimizing facility performance and reliability.

 

Appointments will be made on a 2-year contract basis in the first instance, with the intention of extension on a roll-over contract.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
  2. Working knowledge of GMP principles and their application to equipment qualification, maintenance, and facility operations.
  3. Familiarity with facility and utility systems, including HVAC, electrical systems, gases, shielding, and waste management for radioactive materials.
  4. Understanding of radiation safety principles and engineered controls for radioactive materials.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving across scientific, quality, and engineering disciplines.
  6. Ability to work varying shift patterns.
  7. Previous experience working in a PET radiochemistry facility is highly desirable.
  8. Practical experience with particle accelerator systems, hot cells, dispensing systems and radiochemistry synthesis modules.
  9. Prior completion of GE level 1 training for Cyclotron system.
  10. Excellent understanding of radiochemical and radiopharmaceutical processes, including material flows, quality controls, and critical parameters in GMP environments.
  11. Strong organizational and project planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a regulated environment.
