Research Associate, Acoustic Research Laboratory, Tropical Marine Science Institute
The Acoustic Research Laboratory (ARL) undertakes research projects in the area of underwater acoustics and marine robotics. The Research Associate will focus on development of computational models of Dolphin echolocation, working with data from controlled experiments to develop techniques for acoustic imaging. He/she will also help with equipment preparation, data collection, data curation, and other tasks related to the project. Computational modeling will require a strong background in computational acoustics, machine learning, and computer programming (preferably in the Julia langauge). Experience in working with Dolphin biosonar data is preferred.
Qualifications
- Masters or equivalent degree in computing / signal processing / machine learning / computational acoustics
- Experience in working with Dolphin bioacoustics
- Experience with practical machine learning (scientific machine learning or physics-informed machine learning preferred)
- Strong scientific programming skills (experience with Julia programming language preferred)
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Interest in practical implementation & field work
