About the Role
We are seeking a Research Associate / Research Assistant with quantitative skillsets to support research at the intersection of community health, cities, and population wellbeing. The role is suited for a quantitative social scientist, statistician, human geographer, or urban planner, and involves spatial, statistical, and/or economic analyses of place-based community initiatives to inform practice, planning, and policy.

 

 

What You’ll Do
1) Quantitative & Spatial Analysis
- Analyse community health and urban interventions using quantitative and statistical methods such as hierarchical level modelling, structural equation modelling, and latent class analysis.

- Conduct spatial and geospatial analyses linking health, social, and built environment data

- Develop maps, dashboards, and visualisations to examine neighbourhood-level patterns and inequities

- Apply quasi-experimental or longitudinal approaches where appropriate (e.g. pre–post, comparative analyses)

 

 

2) Urban, Community & Health Systems Research
- Examine place-based initiatives such as community gardens, neighbourhood health projects, and urban design interventions

-Conduct scoping and/or systematic reviews and meta-analyses of related initiatives 

- Link community-level data with healthcare, demographic, and administrative datasets where relevant

- Collaborate with researchers, community organisations, and government agencies to frame policy-relevant questions

 

 

3) Health Economics & Policy Analysis
- Support economic or cost-related analyses of community and urban health interventions

- Contribute to analyses of resource allocation, efficiency, and value of preventive or community-based programmes

- Assist in translating quantitative findings into policy-relevant insights

 

 

4) Knowledge Translation & Research Outputs
- Contribute to academic manuscripts, technical reports, and policy briefs

- Support dissemination of findings to planning, health, and community stakeholders

 

 

Background and Experience
-At least 2 years of experience in quantitative, spatial, or computational methods, preferably in applied research settings working on projects related to healthy cities

 

 

Skills and Competencies

- Skills in quantitative analysis using R, Python, Stata, or equivalent statistical software

- Prior experience working with large datasets, administrative data, or spatial data is an advantage 

- Interest in community health, urban environments, and place-based interventions

- Strong analytical writing skills and ability to communicate findings clearly

- Track record of quantitative publications, reports, or data-driven outputs is ideal

- Experience with healthcare economics, cost-effectiveness, or economic evaluation is ideal
