Research Engineer, Acoustic Research Laboratory, Tropical Marine Science Institute

The Acoustic Research Laboratory (ARL) undertakes research projects in the area of underwater acoustics and marine robotics. The Research Engineer will undertake research on underwater acoustic propagation modeling, with a focus on integrating data-driven techniques with physics-based mathematical modeling. Some background in mathematical physics, especially acoustic propagation modeling would be preferred. The Research Engineer will also be responsible for developing and maintaining software packages in Julia programming langauge, implementing the techniques developed. Programming experience and software engineering skills are important to this position.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a relevant branch of Engineering and/or Science
- Strong skills in physics, mathematical modeling, and machine learning
- Strong programming skills, and some experience with software engineering
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Willingness to work in the field (at sea)
- Ability to work well with team members
- Good communication skills
