Job Description

We are looking for a highly talented and motivated candidate to support the design and realise Long-life Solid-State Batteries by intelligent composites with active interfaces. This collaborative project will run until 30 June 2029. The focus will be on advanced characterisation of hybrid polymer-inorganic solid electrolytes for applications in solid-state batteries with enhanced rate performance and capacity retention. Key tasks for the Research Engineer in this project will be to operate advanced characterisation tools including operando and ex situ solid state NMR, zeta potential analysis, operando XRD cells and electrochemical characterisation equipment. At the same time support for the operation of a pouch cell prototyping line by the research team is expected. The position will be open from 1 September 2025 initially for two years with optional extension over the runtime of the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Materials Science or a related discipline is required.
• Some prior knowledge of electrochemical battery characterisation is expected preferably involving solid state or polymer batteries. This can e.g. be achieved by a Final Year or Master project on a related topic.
• Basic knowledge in solid state NMR is required
• Experience in zeta potential analysis, impedance spectroscopy, and XRD and is desired.
• Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with the interdisciplinary team in this CRP project is necessary.
• Good writing and presentation skills are expected.
• The position is suitable for conducting a Part Time PhD project in the MSE department in parallel.
