Job Description

We are seeking for a Research Engineer position to join our research team to work with PIs and co-PIs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management. This position’s primary focus is developing real-time truck-drone collaboration system to enhance Singapore safety and resilience using learning-based approaches.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collecting and analyzing relevant data.
• Designing mathematical models.
• Developing simulation program.
• Designing optimization or learning-based algorithms.
• Working on research projects, supervising research students, and preparing research proposals and reports.

This research engineer position is funded in the areas of air mobility. Candidates should demonstrate strong expertise and interest in mathematical modeling, simulation, and optimization or learning-based methods.

Qualifications

• Possess at least a bachelor’s degree and or MEng/MSc degree in related discipline (such as transportation engineering, operations research, computer engineering/science, or related disciplines)
• Strong interest and expertise in mathematical modeling, simulation, and optimization or learning-based methods.
• Proficiency in simulation software.
• Programming expertise in at least one language, e.g., Python, Java, or C++.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• This position may also provide a pathway to enrolling in a Ph.D. program. 
• Open to fixed-term contract.
