The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking to recruit a Research Engineer to participate in an innovative research project focused on developing robotic applications for periodic inspection and defect detection of coastal infrastructure using Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. This project aims to create a robotic arm with a suitable end effector that is able to achieve contact-based non-destructive evaluation to assess the coastal infrastructure condition. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and fabricating a prototype of the robotic arm, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, leading a group of interns, and applying advanced robotics techniques to support the project objectives. 

Job Requirements


•    At least a bachelor’s degree in related field. Preferably with a Masters in Robotics, or related field from a reputable university.
•    Evidence of strong publication record in top academic journals. 
•    Proficiency in programming languages, particularly in Python or MATLAB for automation and control tasks.
•    Proficiency in ROS, SLAM, and 3D Reconstruction.
•    Strong research experience relating to robotics as proven in past research projects.
•    Strong written and spoken communication skills. 
•    Open to fixed-term contract.
