Job Description
We are looking for a full-time (42 hours per week) Research Fellow for 36 months appointment to commence in Feb/Mar 2025 or as soon as possible.
The project is to conduct research on how the acoustic environment of a room affects and facilitates teaching pedagogy. The focus will be on optimizing architectural design to improve speech intelligibility. The study will also investigate sound reinforcement systems to enhance the speech intelligibility.
The proposed research project includes several actual social science, architectural and engineering difficulties, from building design to the integration of technologies, human perception and material science. The research fellow is responsible for data analysis, laboratory-testing and field-testing within the project period
Qualifications
Professional requirements:
- PhD (or equivalent) in acoustics (preferred specialisation: Architectural acoustics) or related discipline.
- Essential are demonstrated knowledge related to acoustic modelling, signal processing, and speech Intelligibility.
- Essential are demonstrated excellent data analytic skills, ideally with machine learning.
- Essential is the ability to design and run listening experiments.
Other general requirements:
- Essential is a demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research with limited supervision.
- Essential are outstanding academic writing skills, as demonstrated by a strong track record of publications relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
