Neuron Signaling Laboratory <https://neuronsignalinglab.org/>
Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore
The Neuron Signaling Lab at NUS is seeking a motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary neuroscience team. We use advanced optical imaging and behavioral analysis to uncover how molecular pathways shape brain function, aiming to bridge molecular and systems neuroscience.
Our core platforms include:
- 3D & 4D confocal fluorescence microscopy
- 1P & 2P fluorescence microendoscopy
- Fiber photometry & optogenetics
- Genetically encoded molecular tools
We focus on behaviors such as goal-directed learning, motor learning, anxiety, and fear memory, with strong interest in primary cilia and nuclear signaling in the brain.
Position Summary:
We seek a candidate with strong expertise in microscopy, optical principles, and computational image analysis to:
- Support and enhance ongoing imaging projects in the lab
- Develop AI-powered pipelines for analysis of calcium imaging, high-resolution fluorescence microscopy, and behavioral video
- Lead cross-modality image registration application
- Launch new projects that leverage our optical expertise to probe brain function
Qualifications
PhD in Neuroscience, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, or related field.
Experience:
- At least one strong first-author publication in microscopy and/or image analysis is require
- Strong background in optical imaging principles and microscopy (e.g., confocal, 2P, STED, or light sheet
- Demonstrated experience in image processing, quantitative analysis, and biological interpretatio
- Proficiency in AI/machine learning tools for image segmentation, transformation, registration, or trackin
- Solid mathematical foundation for image analysis (e.g., affine transformations, convolutional filters, matrix and morphological operations
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and/or experience with ImageJ, Napari, Imaris, TensorFlow, or PyTorc
- Familiarity with in vivo imaging, optogenetics or spatial transcriptomics methods is a plu
- Strong interest in bridging biological questions with quantitative approache
- Excellent problem-solving, collaborative, and communication skill
Environment & Opportunities:
Our lab is part of a highly multidisciplinary research environment, with close collaborations in biochemistry, neural computation, and genomics. The successful candidate will be embedded in a vibrant scientific community and have access to a full suite of optical and behavioral neuroscience platforms
In addition to technical capability, we are looking for an individual excited by our novel multi-scale approach to neurobiology and eager to tackle complex, integrative questions
