We are seeking a full-time Research Fellow (Building acoustics or Acoustics Materials) for a 12-month appointment, which may be renewed.

This research aims to better understand the underlying mechanisms of sound transmission in buildings and develop an efficient design methodology and materials to control noise using environmentally sustainable materials.

The proposed research project encompasses a range of interdisciplinary challenges, including acoustics, architecture, material engineer. 

The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting and leading simulations, field measurements, data analysis, as well as laboratory and field testing throughout the duration of the project.

Qualifications

•    Professional requirements: 
o    PhD (or equivalent) in acoustics (preferred specialisation in Building acoustics or Acoustics Materials) or related discipline.
o    Essential are demonstrated knowledge related to acoustic modelling, measurement and soundscape.
o    Essential are demonstrated data analytic skills, ideally with machine learning or statistical modelling


•    Other general requirements:
o    Essential is a demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research with limited supervision.
o    Essential are outstanding academic writing skills, as demonstrated by a strong track record of publications relative to opportunity.
o    Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
o    Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
