Job Description

 

We are looking for a Research Fellow (RF) to work with Prof. Ning Yan (Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, NUS).


Project Overview:
This project aims to develop catalytic processes for the hydrogenation of CO2 to useful chemicals. The RF will conduct fundamental and applied research in heterogeneous catalysis, with emphasis on catalyst development, reaction mechanism, performance evaluation, and the conversion of CO2 into value-added chemical products.


Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design, synthesize, and optimize catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to useful chemicals.
• Conduct catalytic testing and systematically evaluate activity, selectivity, stability, and reaction kinetics.
• Characterize catalysts using appropriate spectroscopic, microscopic, structural, and surface-analysis techniques.
• Investigate reaction pathways and structure–performance relationships to guide catalyst and process development.
• Analyze experimental data, maintain clear records of experimental work, and ensure reproducibility of  results.
• Contribute to scientific manuscripts, presentations, funding reports, and other project deliverables.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with other researchers within the project and related multidisciplinary teams.

Job Requirements


• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related disciplines.
• Research experience in heterogeneous catalysis, CO2 conversion, hydrogenation, or related catalytic reactions.
• Experience in catalyst synthesis, catalytic reactor operation, and relevant characterization techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a good publication record.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
