Job Description
We are looking for a talented and motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the Genome Re-InnovaTion Lab (https://grit-lab.org), part of the Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme at the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. This position is funded by a Ministry of Education Tier-2 grant focused on improving the safety of genome editing tools through high-throughput experimental profiling and artificial intelligence.
The successful candidate will lead efforts to generate and analyze genome-wide data that capture how editing enzymes interact with DNA in various chromatin and cellular contexts. This work will directly support the development of AI models to predict off-target effects across clinically relevant cell types, including primary cells and 3D organoid systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform genome editing experiments in a range of human cell types, including immortalized lines, primary cells, and organoid cultures.
- Develop and optimize protocols to capture DNA cleavage events at high resolution using sequencing-based assays.
- Conduct quality control, library preparation, and sample tracking for large-scale sequencing workflows.
- Coordinate experiments involving genome editors such as Cas9, base editors, and prime editors.
- Supervise and train junior team members including research assistants and students.
- Work collaboratively with computational researchers to integrate experimental data into predictive models.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, presentations, and funding reports.
Qualifications
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field.
- Extensive hands-on experience with genome editing technologies and mammalian cell culture.
- Strong skills in molecular cloning, nucleic acid extraction, PCR/qPCR, and next-generation sequencing workflows.
- Prior experience with functional genomic assays or high-throughput screening is advantageous.
- Familiarity with working on complex cell models such as primary cells or 3D cultures is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently, manage multiple projects, and work well in collaborative environments.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Remuneration will be commensurate to the candidate's qualifications and experience. Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to
