Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute independent research projects aligned with the laboratory's scientific objectives.
  • Investigate mechanisms by which DNA damage and DNA repair defects influence innate and adaptive immune responses in cancer.
  • Study immunogenic cell death, cytosolic nucleic acid sensing pathways, and tumour immune microenvironment modulation following genotoxic chemotherapy.
  • Develop and optimise molecular and cellular assays related to DNA repair, immune activation, and cancer biology.
  • Perform and interpret experiments using cell line models of epithelial and lymphoid malignancies.
  • Apply quantitative microscopy and histopathological imaging techniques to investigate immune modulation pathways in human tumour samples.
  • Analyse and interpret complex experimental datasets using appropriate statistical and computational approaches.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and translational researchers to analyse patient-derived clinical specimens and develop clinically relevant biomarkers.
  • Contribute to the design and evaluation of novel chemotherapy-immunotherapy combination strategies.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Assist in preparing research grant applications and progress reports.
  • Mentor graduate students, research assistants, and junior laboratory members where appropriate.
  • Contribute to laboratory management, protocol development, and maintenance of high standards of scientific integrity and research compliance.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive research culture.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:
    • DNA damage response and DNA repair biology
    • Cancer immunology
    • Molecular and cellular biology
    • Immunofluorescence and quantitative microscopy
    • Flow cytometry
    • CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
    • Genomic and transcriptomic analyses
    • Cancer cell culture and functional assays
  • Experience working with animal models and/or human clinical specimens would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics or computational analysis of biological datasets is desirable.
  • Excellent scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills.
