We now seek a Research Scientist/ Senior Research Scientist to join the team of Prof. Ashok Venkitaraman. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a world-leading cancer researcher to undertake pioneering research on the role of genome instability in human carcinogenesis (eg., see Venkitaraman Science (2014) PMID:24675954 and Venkitaraman DNA Repair (2019) PMID:31337537).

For this position, we would require a post-doctoral fellow to engage in designing and running of multiple CRISPR genome screens, to interrogate and identify genes that are responsible for a host of different genome instability phenomenon uncovered in our lab in human carcinogenesis

 

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the ability to work in a team environment. Genuine enthusiasm for science, willingness to think beyond established concepts and to try and learn new experimental and analysis tools. 

 

Duties And Responsibilities

Laboratory skills:
•    Required experience with CRISPR gene editing and screens
•    Required experience with mammalian cell culture
•    Required experience with molecular cloning and biochemical analyses (qPCR, Western, co-IP, etc.)
•    Good to have experience in high-throughput sequencing and data analysis (RNAseq etc.)
 

Qualifications

•    PhD in biology or related fields
•    Strong track record of research achievement evidenced by high-quality publications in a relevant field
•    High-level experience in hands-on use of a wide range of relevant research methods
•    Skills in working independently and creatively to solve experimental problems
•    Effective communication and presentation skills, with experience in communicating scientific work including scientific papers, presentations and reports.
