Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Fellow (Digital Health and Digital Interventions), 1 year minimum, up to 3 years

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to interdisciplinary projects in digital health, with a particular focus on the development, optimisation, and evaluation of mobile health (mHealth) interventions for diverse population segments. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, translational research environment at the intersection of behavioural science, public health, and digital technologies.

Key responsibilities include:
• Design, develop, and optimise mHealth interventions tailored for different demographic and clinical populations using smartphone applications, wearable technologies, and just-in-time adaptive intervention frameworks.
• Evaluate the effectiveness, feasibility, and user experience of mHealth interventions using various assessment methods and advanced statistical techniques, including ecological momentary assessments (EMA), ecological momentary interventions (EMI), micro-randomised trials (MRT), and other trial designs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams including behavioural scientists, software developers, clinicians, and public health experts.
• Translate research findings into scientific publications, policy recommendations, and practical tools.
• Support grant writing and contribute to securing external funding.
• Supervise or mentor junior researchers or interns as appropriate.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work closely with members of the Physical Activity and Nutrition Determinants in Asia (PANDA) research programme: https://blog.nus.edu.sg/sphpanda/. PANDA is one of the major research programs of the SSHSPH including faculty members from a variety of disciplines. PANDA aims to understand determinants of nutrition and physical activity behaviours in Asian populations and develop interventions to improve these behaviours and contribute to the prevention of non-communicable diseases and mental well-being.

Requirements:
• A PhD in Public Health, Behavioural Science, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and evaluation of digital health or mHealth interventions, ideally involving real-time data or adaptive designs.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following: R, Python, JavaScript, or other relevant data analysis or app development tools.
• Familiarity with EMA, EMI, MRTs, or SMART designs is highly desirable.
• Solid background in quantitative and/or mixed methods research, including usability testing, user engagement metrics, statistical analyses, and focus group discussions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and timelines.
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, particularly in addressing challenges in digital intervention development and implementation.

Recruitment is open immediately, and will continue until the position is filled.
