Job Description

•    We are seeking a Research Fellow to join a research project examining landscape infrastructure along Singapore's coastline. The successful candidate will investigate how coastal defences, green-blue infrastructure, and public waterfront spaces shape ecological function, climate resilience, and community life along Singapore's shore.

•    This is a mixed-methods position combining spatial analysis of coastal landscape infrastructure with qualitative fieldwork, including focus group interviews with coastal communities, planners, and other stakeholders. The role suits a researcher comfortable moving between GIS/remote sensing work and community-facing qualitative research.

Qualifications

•  PhD (completed or near completion) in Geography, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Studies, Social Science, or a related field
•  Demonstrated experience with spatial analysis tools (e.g. ArcGIS, or QGISfor spatial data)
•  Experience designing and conducting qualitative research, particularly focus groups or interviews
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills
•  Ability to work independently and manage fieldwork logistics
•  Interest in coastal environments, urban resilience, or infrastructure studies

Candidates should demonstrate analytical skills, research potential, and the willingness to work across disciplines. 

The successful candidate will work with other researchers and students at National University of Singapore.
