The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow for In Vivo Base and Prime Editing of Haematopoietic Stem Cells Expressing Common B-Globin Mutations in Humanized Mouse Models derived from Transfusion-Dependent Thalassaemia Patients using Non-Integrating Vectors: A Scalable Model for Screening and Prediction of Molecular Effects of Gene Modification Therapies”, Experimental Fetal Medicine studies in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the National University of Singapore is dedicated to advancing women's health through excellence in clinical care, education, and research. As part of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the department plays a pivotal role in training future medical professionals and conducting cutting-edge research in various areas of women's health.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI). The RF is expected to:

  1. Perform cell culture and maintenance, specifically on iPSC / Stem Cells.
  2. Conduct experiments pertaining to Gene Editing, Functionality Assays, and Molecular Analyses (E.g. qPCR and Flow Cytometry)
  3. Carry out animal studies that may include handling and experimental procedures
  4. Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data accurately.
  5. Learning and mastering new experiments and collaborating with various academics to push the boundaries of science.
  6. Collaborate with team members and contribute to project planning and troubleshooting.
  7. Manage junior team members and students as needed.
  8. Draft and prepare manuscripts for submission to scientific journals. Writing skills need to be honed and refined to meet the standards of the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should have / be able to:

 

  1. PhD (or equivalent experience) in stem cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field;
  2. Demonstrate hands-on experience with iPSC and/or stem cell culture;
  3. Experience in working with animals;
  4. Practical knowledge pertaining to Gene Editing, Functionality Assays, and Molecular Analyses (E.g. qPCR and Flow Cytometry);
  5. Experience in data analysis and interpretation;
  6. Communication skills, both written and verbal;
  7. Skills in writing and preparing scientific papers for publication;
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team;
  9. Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members and/or students;
  10. Strong organizational and project management skills.
