Job Description
The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.
This position is for a full-time Research Assistant with a strong background in Microbiology/Immunology to work in a dynamic research team focused on bat biology. The candidate is expected to play a critical role in generating and fostering a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research environment by performing a variety of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate. The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: -
- Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
- Provide support experience for MRNA vaccine studies.
- Assist in the maintaining of cell cultures
- Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols and laboratory housekeeping.
- Provide guidance and training to students.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Job Requirements
- PhD Degree in Life Sciences with Microbiology/Immunology background.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge, skills and technical expertise in supporting various biological research activities.
- Equipped with basic routine laboratory skills, including biological safety.
- Possess interpersonal communications skills with excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
- A strong team player who is open-minded, independent, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
