Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join the Optical Bioimaging Lab at National University of Singapore. The candidates will be primarily responsible for the design, development, and optimization of advanced light-sheet microscopy system for biomedical imaging applications.
The role involves hands-on system construction, optical alignment, optomechanical integration, and the development of control and image acquisition software. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to high-impact research and industry projects aimed at enhancing imaging speed, resolution, and stability.
Job Description:
- Design and develop customized light-sheet microscopy systems, including optical path configuration and optomechanical integration.
- Build and test functional prototypes, ensuring performance meets milestone-based specifications in joint academic-industrial projects.
- Integrate instrument control and imaging software for real-time operation and data acquisition.
- Perform system calibration, benchmarking, and iterative refinement based on user feedback and test data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including industry partners, biomedical researchers, and engineers, to define requirements and ensure deliverable quality.
- Contribute to scientific publications, patent applications, and conference presentations.
Qualifications
- Possess a PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
- Has prior research experience in development of optical microscopy (light-sheet, confocal, multiphoton) or relevant fields.
- Strong hands-on skills in designing & building precise optical systems and system integration.
- Has excellent publication records.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Open to fixed-term contract.
