Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Fellow to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of phage biology, focusing on bacteria from the human microbiome under the guidance of A/Prof Yann Boucher at the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE). The candidate will lead experimental phage projects, design and execute research strategies, and play a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of bacteriophage dynamics in human and environmental microbiomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead research projects focusing on phages targeting bacteria within the human microbiome.
- Develop, implement, and manage experimental plans under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
- Conduct molecular microbiology experiments, analyze data, and troubleshoot experimental issues.
- Prepare progress reports, present findings in lab meetings, and contribute to research discussions.
- Write, edit, and submit high-quality manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology, Microbial Ecology, or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis on phage research.
- Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience in phage research, including phenotypic analysis, sequencing, and genomic studies.
- Proficiency in molecular microbiology techniques, such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, and bacterial culture.
- Research Skills:
- Familiarity with experimental evolution studies and genomic taxonomy.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools for sequencing data analysis is an advantage.
