This project will study and propose feasible solution to retrofit existing coastal protection structures. Special feature of this proposed solution is that it must be able to reduce seawater seepage, using innovative way of impervious material. The solution must also be modular in nature, such that it can be stack onto the existing seawall or the previously installed layer.


This research fellow will help the PI and Co-PI in overseeing the project in general and help in drafting the reports. In particular, he/she is responsible for

  •     design and executive of centrifuge testing in this project.
  •     Design a wave generation inflight in centrifuge model.
  •     Model the impermeability of the new proposed modules, and its connection with the existing seawall.
  •     Data interpretation and summary the laboratory tests, arrive at some key findings on the future design.

 

Job Requirements

 

  •     Possess a PhD in geotechnical engineering or related civil engineering
  •     At least 2 years of experiences in various capacity.
  •     Has strong geotechnical knowledge.
  •     Be an independent researcher.
  •     Familiar with geotechnical FEM modelling software and their applications.
  •     Able to analyse test data.
  •     Able to draft sound technical report.
  •     Highly motivated in doing research work.
  •     Innovative in thinking.    Able to work in a team.
  •     Strong communication ability. Able to write and communicate well.
  •     Open to fixed term contract.
