Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated researchers with expertise in synthetic biology, engineering of biology, to join our group at National University of Singapore for the engineering of microbes as biosensors for environmental pathogens detection.
Our group @ NUS (https://engbio.syncti.org) specializes in Synthetic Biology in which we engineer microbes with useful capabilities for medical and industrial applications and we are part of SynCTI at NUS (https://syncti.org).
Primary Responsibilities
• The candidate will be primarily work on developing genetic encoded biosensors using synthetic biology approach for the development microbes for environmental pathogen detection applications.
• Present scientific and technical data in a clear and cohesive manner.
• Ensure scientific integrity and documentation of experimental data to meet standards suitable for intellectual property, and publication.
• To work closely with colleagues/collaborators who are engineering the microbes.
Qualifications
• Possess a PhD in Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• A strong publication record in relevant areas such as synthetic biology, biosensor engineering, genetic circuit design, biotechnology, or related discipline.
• Position offered will commensurate with qualifications and experience of candidate.
• Open to fixed term contract.
Required Skills
• Demonstrated synthetic biology related lab skills. Preferably with experience in engineering synthetic enabled biosensors
• Have an excellent understanding of system and synthetic biology
• A demonstrated record of identifying and developing creative approaches to difficult problems.
• Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills required. It is expected that the candidate shows a high motivation for the project, as well as good communication (writing, oral) skills for publications in conferences and scientific journals.
• Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating and communicating effectively with members of other functional groups.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and embrace change in an extremely fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaborations with colleagues in the project are required.
