Job Description
The role will support the strategic priorities of NUS Medicine and the Strategic Data Insights (SDI) Unit by delivering timely, high-quality data insights to inform planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring. You will partner with business units to design and deliver analytical dashboards for both operational and strategic needs, enhance and support the Faculty Data Warehouse (including migration to Microsoft Fabric), and contribute to data governance efforts with NUS IT and central data teams. Success in this role will be measured by the accuracy and timeliness of deliverables, stakeholder adoption of insights, and demonstrable impact on evidence-based decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Institutional Analytics and Intelligence
- Analyse data across academic, workforce, finance, and operational domains to uncover trends and insights that support institutional priorities.
- Produce evidence-based analyses and reports to inform planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
- Data Visualization and Reporting
- Partner with stakeholders to conceptualise, design, and maintain dashboards and reports for core business metrics and KPIs (e.g., in Power BI).
- Ensure data visualisations clearly communicate insights and support decision making at all levels.
- Strategic Planning and Performance Analytics
- Provide scenario modelling, forecasting, and trend analysis to guide long-term strategy and annual planning cycles.
- Support resource utilisation reviews and operational performance tracking.
- Data Integration and Infrastructure
- Work with vendors, business units, and NUS IT on the successful migration of the Faculty Data Warehouse to Microsoft Fabric.
- Enhance data pipelines, integrate new datasets, and ensure system reliability, scalability, and accessibility.
- Data Governance
- Collaborate with NUS IT and relevant stakeholders to keep NUS Medicine staff abreast of data governance policies.
- Help maintain records such as the Data Steward/Manager list and promote good data practices.
- Continuous Learning and Professional Development
- Stay current with emerging data technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Pursue learning opportunities and certifications to strengthen analytics capabilities within SDI and NUS Medicine.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in data analysis, visualisation, and storytelling—translating complex datasets into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with data modelling, cleansing, transformation, and visualisation using tools such as Power BI, Python, and SQL.
- Experience developing and maintaining interactive dashboards and performance reports to monitor KPIs and inform decisions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric data platforms, SQL Server, and modern data stack concepts.
- Experience in data engineering (e.g., data modelling, data pipelines, data architecture, ETL/Reverse ETL) is advantageous.
- Ability to conduct forecasting and trend analysis to support planning, budgeting, and operational performance.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience within an academic or healthcare setting is an advantage, though not a must.
