Job Description
This is an administrative position in the Research Office. The Research Office supports grant management, research agreement review, the Departmental Ethical Review Committee and other research administrative functions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Vice Dean (Research) and the Manager of the Research Office, the Senior Executive/Assistant Manager will be part of the team to support the core duties of the Research Office:
a) Grant Administration
- Advise researchers on grant guidelines and requirements.
- Provide administration support to researchers throughout the entire grant cycle from grant application, grant awarding, budget and expenses tracking, reporting of project status and project closure.
- Be the point of contact between researchers and various administration departments to support the management of research projects.
- Manage grant calls and be the liaison person to the funding agencies.
b) Research Agreement
- Support researchers to draft, review, negotiate and execute research agreements, working closely with researchers, collaborators and internal and external legal offices.
c) Departmental Ethics Review Committee (DERC) Secretariat
- Provide ethics review from reviewing applications, communicating feedback, reviewing amendments to processing review outcomes.
- Organise DERC meetings and keep records of DERC's reviews and outcomes.
d) Research Office
- Organise research seminars and meetings.
- Report research metrics for the School and researchers.
Qualifications
• Applicants are expected to have at least a Bachelor degree from a recognized institution.
• Preferably with at least 2 years of experience in an administrative position within the academic, research or healthcare sector.
• Candidates with experience in research administration, grant management, agreement review, research ethics, research compliance or database management will be at an advantage. Fresh graduates with some research experience may be considered.
• A team player with effective problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to take initiative to learn on the job and manage various responsibilities.
