Job Description

The Dean's Office, Faculty of Science is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Research Administration team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering efficient and timely research grant administration for faculty members, supporting the smooth execution of funded projects from application to completion. In doing so, the candidate will help lay the groundwork for potential scientific breakthroughs that make a meaningful impact on society.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following –

 

(a) Provide end-to-end administration of research grant accounts, from initial application to final project closure, ensuring compliance with grant terms, conditions, and institutional guidelines at every stage.

(b) Liaise closely with academic staff, departmental management, and relevant University offices to address and resolve grant-related administrative matters in a timely manner.

(c) Coordinate and provide logistical support for grant review meetings, award committees, and related proceedings.

(d) Support efforts to enhance research visibility through strategic publicity initiatives that promote scientific achievements and breakthroughs by faculty members.

(e) Facilitate research collaboration by assisting in the organisation of thematic workshops, seminars, and networking events involving both internal and external stakeholders.

(f) Assist in maintaining and updating the faculty research website, including content creation and ensuring information accuracy.

(g) Contribute to the review and improvement of administrative processes and workflows related to research support within the Faculty.

(h) Undertake any other administrative duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of research-related activities within the Faculty.

Qualifications/Requirements/Other Info

  • Degree holder, preferably in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, science or engineering.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in grant or research administration.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong time management skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4 HANA system and/ or web design tools is an advantage but not essential.

 

- Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with annual variable bonus which is subject to incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies.

- The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.
