What You Will Be Working On

The Faculty Finance Cluster Lead is a senior finance leader responsible for strategic finance business partnering across a portfolio of Faculties and Schools. Reporting to the Finance Director, the role provides financial leadership in planning, performance management and decision support to Faculty and University leadership.

As the key link between Faculty Finance and Central Finance, the role drives finance transformation, strengthens governance, improves resource efficiency, and ensures consistent implementation of finance policies, systems and processes. The role also builds a high-performing team of Finance Business Partners through strong people leadership, coaching and talent development.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Finance Business Partnering

  • Serve as the trusted finance advisor to the Provost, Deans and Faculty leadership.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance reviews across the assigned faculty cluster.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis, business cases, scenario modelling and investment evaluations to support decision-making.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve financial sustainability and operational performance.

 

2. People Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of more than 20 Faculty Finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous learning.
  • Build organisational capability through recruitment, succession planning, mentoring and continuous learning.
  • Empower team members to become trusted strategic advisors to faculty leadership.

 

3. Cross-functional Leadership

  • Build strong partnerships with Faculties, Central Finance and corporate functions.
  • Drive clarity of roles and responsibilities between Faculty Finance and Central Finance to improve accountability, service quality and resource efficiency.
  • Represent Faculty Finance in University-wide initiatives and advocate for practical, effective implementation of finance policies, systems and processes.

 

4. Finance Transformation and Operational Excellence

  • Lead initiatives to simplify finance processes, standardise practices and improve operational efficiency.
  • Drive automation, AI-enabled solutions and digital finance technologies to enhance productivity, decision-making and user experience.
  • Leverage data analytics and AI to deliver predictive insights, streamline workflows and improve finance business partnering.
  • Strengthen governance, internal controls and data quality across the Faculty Finance community.

 

5. Governance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with University policies and financial regulations.
  • Strengthen financial controls, risk management and reporting integrity.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

What Are We Looking For

You should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline; MBA, CPA, CA or CFA preferred.
  • Over 20 years' experience in FP&A, finance business partnering or corporate finance within a large and complex organisation.
  • Proven track record of leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading finance transformation, organisational change and process improvement.
  • Experience leveraging financial systems, data analytics and technology to improve decision-making.
