Job Description
- To incubate startup teams towards successful outcomes within GRIP, facilitating their journey from concept to launch.
- This role also supports the overall operational effectiveness of the programme.
Duties and Responsibilities
Startup Incubation
- Provide direct guidance and support to startup teams from concept through to launch, focusing on developing validated problem-solution fits and constructing robust business models.
- Work hand-in-hand with founders to validate their business concepts in real-world environments, assist in developing scalable business plans, and help secure their initial funding.
- Offer strategic insights and guidance to help startup teams effectively navigate complex business landscapes.
- Transfer knowledge and entrepreneurial expertise to enhance the capabilities of founders, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills throughout the incubation process.
Portfolio Management
- Assist GRIP-invested ventures in identifying and assessing potential business opportunities, partnerships, and investments.
- Support startups throughout the critical early stages of their operations, including aspects such as company formation, product development, strategic hiring, marketing strategies, regulatory compliance, and fundraising efforts.
Startup Pipeline Formation
- At the programme level, actively identify and establish strategic partnerships with key ecosystem players, corporates, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance the resources available and foster high-quality startup formations.
- Build and maintain relationships with university Principal Investigators (PIs) and scientists to discover technologies with commercial potential and scout for aspiring entrepreneurs.
- Collaborate extensively with other units within the NUS Enterprise ecosystem to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to venture creation.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in science & engineering or a related field. Master’s degree or PhD a plus.

Minimum of 10 years in science-based technology business, including roles in company management, venture capital, or startup founder.

First-hand experience in startup environments is a must. Founder experience a big plus.

Deep understanding of one or more industry sectors: medical device, climate tech, semiconductor, artificial intelligence

Familiarity with the latest technologies, trends, and market dynamics is essential.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
